The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Allegra® family of allergy medication products for over-the-counter (OTC) use in adults and children two years of age and older. Additionally, Allegra-D®, which also relieves nasal congestion and sinus pressure, will be available without a prescription at the pharmacy counter for use in adults and children 12 years of age and older. Asthma Continues to Afflict Millions
The CDC recently released their report on Asthma Statistics. The Highlights of the report include the following:
- About 8.2% of the US population has asthma
- That is 24.9 million people in the US
- 17.4 million adults have asthma
- 7.1 million children have asthma
- 14.2 million lost work days were due to asthma
- 10.5 million lost school days were due to asthma
